Debra Kalmanowitz and Bobby Lloyd are founders and co-directors of ATI - Art Therapy Initiative - established in 1994 as an independent London-based art therapy service working in the context of political violence and trauma. In addition to clinical practice they regularly develop and run workshops, seminars and training and together have published a number of articles. Together they wrote 'The Portable Studio: art therapy and political conflict: initiatives in the former Yugoslavia and KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa' (London: Health Education Authority, 1997) and are co-editors of 'Art Therapy and Political Violence: With art, without illusion' (Routledge, 2005). Their work has taken them to Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, South Africa, and Kosovo. They have worked with Goldsmiths College, London University; War Child; the Bosnian Support Trust; the Art Works Trust and the University of Durban Westville (South Africa); Save the Children and DFID (U.K. Department for International Development) in Kosovo; and the Bayswater Families Centre in London.
